FAQs

What areas of the body are included in the scan?

The MRI captures imaging across the body’s nine core systems. This includes the brain, spine, cardiac, chest, abdomen, pelvis, musculoskeletal and vascular systems, as well as bones, joints and body composition, from head to ankles.

When will I receive my results?

Your results are estimated to be available within two weeks. Once ready, you’ll review them during a one-on-one consultation with a clinician and receive access to your secure digital dashboard.

What if the results show something concerning?

If we find something that needs further evaluation, your clinician will:

  • Explain your results clearly, by body system, so you understand what they mean in the context of your medical history and lifestyle
  • Recommend appropriate next steps (which may include specialist referral, additional testing, or lifestyle modifications)
  • If needed, share your results directly with your Primary Care Provider. If you don’t have one, you can choose to use our Nurse Practitioner Continuing Care service to help coordinate follow-up care and referrals (additional fees apply).

Highly sensitive MRIs can reveal "incidental findings" (minor irregularities). These may require further testing or specialist referrals managed through your primary care provider or the public healthcare system.

How is my health information stored?

Your results are securely stored in Canada under strict privacy and data governance standards. Learn more about how TELUS respect and protect your data in our Privacy Commitments.

Can I repeat the assessment every year?

Yes. Many people use Total Body MRI as part of a longer-term proactive health strategy to help establish a baseline and monitor changes in their health over time.
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of your body—without radiation. It's a safe, non-invasive imaging technology that's been used in healthcare for decades.

Is this covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by insurance plan. Total Body MRI may also be eligible for reimbursement through Health spending accounts (HSA) or Wellbeing Accounts (WBA). We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific coverage.
